Summer Term– Pentecost/Peace
This coming Sunday the Church celebrates Pentecost. This is the feast of the gift of the Holy Spirit to the Church.
In this Sunday’s Gospel, the risen Jesus offers his disciples the Holy Spirit and inner peace. True peace (the removal of all anxiety, worry and envy) comes only from God. God’s peace is not dependent on peaceful conditions: we can experience it even in the midst of turmoil and uncertainty.
One thing that has happened this week was a real certainty for me and that was the fantastic approach that the Y6 class had towards their SATS tests this week. They have shone brightly and really lived out the school motto which is of course to be the best person you can be. I hope they enjoy their surprise treat this morning and that they continue to work hard in their remaining 8 weeks as they get ready for their secondary schools. They have plenty of activities booked in and of course we will start to get ready for the end of year performance which this year is called, ‘Pirates of the Curry Bean!’. The dates for this performance are below please make sure you have them in your diary.
Year 1 had an amazing time at the Hancock Museum and at Seven Stories and once again many an observer commented on their wonderful behaviour. Well done to the Year 1 children.
On Thursday it is our annual May Procession and Mass at 10am. Everyone is invited. Please can I ask once again that each child brings in a couple of flowers so that we can decorate the statue of Our Lady and make the celebration really special. All flowers donated will then be passed on to local Nursing homes. On Friday it is the last day of half– term.
All the primary schools in Guisborough have agreed to take part in a designated active day across the Tees Valley. Please can children wear sports clothes for the day (this can be school PE Kit if you prefer). Once again we are asking for a voluntary contribution of £1 towards transport funds for sporting events. All classes benefit from PE sessions either at Laurence Jackson School or Prior Pursglove College.
Have a lovely weekend and enjoy the Royal Wedding and the FA Cup Final.
