Happy St David’s day. David was a true teacher through his actions and words and as we know is the patron saint of Wales.
This week’s Gospel reminds us not to criticise others’ actions but rather to look at our own actions and try to grow in goodness.
With this in mind on Tuesday I launched this year’s Mission Together Charity Appeal. It is to support children in Jordan who cannot attend school as they are refugees. It hit a real chord with the children and I hope that during Lent they will try hard to put these words into action and collect money in the little red boxes. As little as £50 can help a child have a school bag, healthy meals and stationary to equip them to learn when their life has already suffered. More information about Mission Together can be found on p2. Red boxes will be coming home this evening. These are collected after Easter. But can be handed in whenever is most convenient or more information please check their website http://www.missiontogether.org.uk/ and read page 2.
I am also aware that Red Nose Day is coming up on Friday 15th March. Children are of course permitted to wear red noses or other red nose items, however school uniform must be worn that day.
Next week, sees the holy season of Lent begin. During Lent Christians are invited to try and adhere to three tasks: pray, fast and give. By giving to charity we are certainly fulfilling the Trust’s mission of being called to serve. Lent starts on Wednesday 6th March and our KS2 children will attend Mass at 10am. Everyone is most welcome to join this celebration of the start of Lent.
To change tact completely, Thursday is World Book Day and this year we will be dressing as animal characters from books. We will once again host a coffee morning and the children will parade in the hall and tell everyone who they have come dressed up as. The running order will be fluid but we will start with the Y5 pupils, it is impossible to state what time each class will be in the hall so please be patent with us. In order for the coffee morning to be a success I need to ask for some of our lovely bakers to offer their services and bring in some cakes and also we desperately need volunteers to help man the coffee station especially first thing when many people arrive. Please let the office know if you can help. Information about the Book Fair is on p3 and I look forward to seeing you in the hall on Thursday morning.
Have a lovely weekend when it comes.
