What a wonderful final week of this Spring Term it has been. The conclusion of our Lent Stay & Pray sessions, the Easter Fair and Whole School Mass on Thursday. This afternoon at 2pm the whole school will be in assembly where we will remind the children of the events of Holy Week (a little earlier than usual due to the timing of our holidays). All children will also be bringing home a Palm Cross to signify the start Holy Week next Sunday, which is of course Palm Sunday.
In this Sunday’s Gospel, the depths of God’s mercy and compassion are evident. It shows us the need for each one of us, in our own way, to make a new start with God.
Mass yesterday was lovely and we are planning to restart the whole school mass cycle more regularly with the Parish following the feedback we got from the RE Parent Survey. I am sure that you will all agree that the singing at Church yesterday was wonderful in particular the lovely Trust song ‘ Called to Serve’. We have been working with the band Cattle & Cane who wrote this song to produce our very own St Paulinus Song. This will be finished after the Easter break- every exciting times. As soon as it is complete we will of course be very keen to perform to it to you all.
One particularly highlight of the week was the Easter Fair on Wednesday where once again the school hall was packed to capacity. Thanks to you, the PTFA raised a total of £805.36. The egg designs, as always, were very creative and the judges had some difficult decisions to make. As in other years the judges have no knowledge of the children’s efforts and judge it on what they see on the day with the added rule this year of only using one egg. It certainly was eggciting!
Can I thank the team behind the scenes for making sure that the event ran smoothly and for providing us all with much needed hot drinks and refreshments. It was also very noticeable the helpers we had on the day which were gratefully appreciated. The next big event is the Summer Fair which this year will be on Saturday 8th June. If you know you can help then please get in touch. We have also raised money for our Mission Together Charity through a toy stall at our Easter Fair, our amazing mini-Vinnie Coffee afternoon and of course the Red Boxes which keep coming into school. Don’t worry if you have forgotten your red box as we will still be collecting these until Tuesday 30th April.
Please follow the school twitter feed we have lots of exciting updates on there; @stpaulinus.
Have a Happy and Holy Easter
