It really has been a very special week in School this week. Each day at 10.15am the whole school has gathered as each class has taken a turn in retelling the events of Holy Week. These sessions have complemented the RE work in class and the Lent Stay & Pray liturgies. We have celebrated through scripture, prayer, art, drama and music.
This Sunday is Easter Sunday– the greatest day in the Church’s calendar. The Church throughout the world especially remembers and celebrates the resurrection of Jesus. Easter Sunday reminds us that Jesus offers each one of us a share in his everlasting life and eternal happiness.
One particularly evident was a highlight as usual and that was the Easter Fair on Tuesday where once again the school hall was packed to capacity. Thanks to you, the PTFA raised a massive £1251. The egg designs, as always, were very creative and the judges had some difficult decisions to make. As in other years the judges have no knowledge of the children’s efforts and judge it on what they see on the day. It certainly was eggciting!
Can I thank the team behind the scenes for making sure that the event ran smoothly and for providing us all with much needed hot drinks and refreshments. The next big event is the Summer Fair which this year will be on Saturday 16th June. If you know you can help then please get in touch.
After the Easter break, if you would like your child to wear optional Summer Uniform then they are permitted to do so. Summer Uniform does not include the wearing of sandals. In Foundation Stage the children still wear tracksuits. When it gets really warm they can wear shorts but not sandals as they still need sensible footwear. Y1-Y6 Summer Uniform remains the same as last year. For the boys they can wear grey shorts/trousers and blue polo shirts without a tie if they prefer and grey socks. The girls may wear summer dresses, mid blue and white gingham with white socks. No sandals or open shoes for the girls are permitted. Sometimes I feel that the children do not look as smart in the summer and I will be asking staff to check that children are wearing the correct uniform. If you have any individual requests for your child then please contact the school office. Have a happy and holy Easter.
