In this Sunday’s Gospel we hear about a wealthy young man whose love of money and possessions were stopping him finding true happiness. So Jesus lovingly challenges him: if he wants to have the true, lasting happiness for which he is asking, then he must give God first place in his life. The young man went away sad because he was putting his trust in his wealth rather than trusting God to bring him happiness.
St Gianna Beretta Molla reminds us that, “the secret of happiness is to live moment by moment, being thankful to God, accepting all that he sends.”
We have a lot to be happy about this week and a lot to be thankful for. On Wednesday it was the feast day of St Paulinus, our School and Parish patron. The children celebrated in style with carnival based themes which included art, music, dance and drama. It truly was a brilliant day that ended with a sharing assembly, of which the highlights can be viewed on twitter. We also had two successful rugby competitions, finishing 2nd and 3rd overall, which means the children have qualified for the next round.
Next week we have three school trips. On Tuesday Y4 are going to the Inspire to Learn Centre for some Maths STEM Activities. On Wednesday Y2 are visiting Guisborough Hall and on Thursday Y1 are visiting Guisborough Woods. Hopefully the weather will be better then today! All the other events are listed on the key dates panel to the right.
Some General Reminders:
Can I take this opportunity to remind you all that, as part of our Uniform Policy, only studs are permitted for pierced ears. These have to be covered up with a plaster (for safety reasons) during PE sessions, if the child cannot remove their own earrings. It is my own personal preference is that earrings should not be worn on PE days and, if possible, at all times at School to avoid lost property or injuries.
In the first week of November we have our first Parents’ Evenings of the year—an opportunity to discuss how your child has started in their new class. This year we are offering 3 nights to parents, Tuesday 6th November– Thursday 8th November and a total of 7 hours of appointment times. Please pop the dates in your diary so that you can attend on one of the evenings. Tuesday appointments will run to a later time of 6pm. This term we will be trialling an electronic method to reserve appointments which will be through ParentMail. This will be all set up mid next week so watch for the message.
Have a lovely weekend everyone, Mr Geaves.
