‘Advent 4– Merry Christmas Everyone’

At this time of year we often take a look at what has happened in our lives and begin to make those new year resolutions to break after a couple of weeks. This term has been a busy and exciting time.

The recent Christmas productions have been well received by all and have certainly helped the school to prepare for Christmas. I also think that by attending Assemblies and various Carol Services, it has given us all the opportunity to prepare spiritually for the celebration of Our Lord’s birth.

Although today is the final day of this term we are still waiting for the celebration of Jesus’ birth. This Sunday marks the fourth Sunday of Advent when we are reminded in the Gospel of Mary. Each year on the last Sunday of Advent, we look to Mary, our heavenly mother. The Gospel tells us something about Mary who was chosen by God to be the mother of his Son, Jesus (the name Jesus means ‘the Lord saves’). Why don’t you ask your child what they know about Mary?

In the third week of Advent, we relight the first two violet candles of Hope and Peace, and we now also light the pink candle, symbolising Joy. As the coming of Jesus draws near, our joy builds with the anticipation of his birth. In Assembly today we will also light the fourth advent candle and also the special white candle for Christmas Day itself.

The attendance at all the performances this year has been wonderful and I am so pleased that we continue to have such great support at the school. We are blessed with many talented children and hopefully over the past fortnight they have all had an opportunity to shine. It is such a busy time of year for everyone. I hope in all the rush and excitement we can all remember why we celebrate at this time of year. We must try hard to find time to do our best in all that we do. I hope that we continue to strive for this in the New Year and that 2019 will be as successful as the year that has passed.

Can I remind you that School closes at 3.00pm today, and not earlier.

Have a Merry Christmas and may 2019 be a fantastic year for you all.

I would like to thank you all for your continued  support of our school and look forward to working with you all next year. Thank you also, on behalf of all the staff, for the very kind gifts and cards with delightful messages in. See you all on Monday 7th January at the School gate!

Merry Christmas Everyone and best wishes for 2019.
